Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig 21st September, 1983). 21, 1983) is an acclaimed American actress. Most notably, she was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio, she left high school and moved in Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. In 2001, despite her finances she managed to land her first major part in the web-based video show Rachel's Room as the principal character. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she was a main actor for the first two seasons winning a Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace was forced to quit the series to concentrate on her film career. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. The following year, she was in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. She played the same role in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace played Shannon's part in Lost for two additional episodes. This included the series final. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season that aired from 2013 to the year 2014. She portrays Faith a groupie and a muse to the stars that catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. She belongs to the Gyllenhaal family and is the sister to Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager, she began to work in small roles for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko along with her twin brother. Then she appeared on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim in both of her roles as the main character of Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). The actress received a nomination from The Golden Globe Award. After a string of commercially successful films, like World Trade Center in 2006 her fame grew when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). In 2009, she was nominated as the Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. She subsequently starred in the comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). In addition to her role as a Secret Service agent, she has also appeared as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles were her character as the primary protagonist in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
